Last Day at Natures Classrooom

Today is our last full day here at Nature's Classroom and it is a glorious day! In the high 70's with lots and lots of sun. We started the day off as usual, with an activity called Savage Ravage. It really was a long game of tag with some sciene thrown in! Then we had lunch and said good bye to our new buddies from Holy Spirit school (they left a day early). Mr. Provenza joined us for lunch and went with us down to the lake where we jumped from dock to dock (they are only in about a foot of water) and got COMPLETELY soaked. Then we came up, got changed into dry clothes (most of which were taken from our dirty laundry bags) and went to work on a skit we'll be doing tonight after dinner. It is 3pm and we still have two more activites to go... busy yet gorgeous fun day.

Natures Classroom Thursdays High Lights

Thursday’s highlights

• Savage Ravage (big game of tag with science)
• Afternoon activities: built a shelter
• “open mike” Thursday – acted in and watched skits

Parents,
It was a busy day today!! The kids had four sets of activities, all of them with their field groups (just with each other and one teacher). One of them was in the woods building a shelter; another was coming up with an idea for a skit to act out for the rest of the groups and the final one was acting our skit out and watching the others do theirs. In between, we took the kids down to the lake and let them “dock jump”, a game that Mr. Razzano developed when he was here two years ago. It involves jumping from one dock to the next without getting wet. The docks are only in a foot of water so there isn’t any real danger, yet the kids approach it as though they are jumping from cliff to cliff. While the focus of the game is supposedly to make it from dock to dock without getting wet but all of the kids “accidentally” fell in and got SOAKED. And, of course, loved it. Until they had five minutes to get themselves back up to their rooms and change for the next activity.

Today’s questions deal with the entire week as I’ll be leaving early tomorrow and won’t be able to do a last round of questions.
